Angie Buhl Announces Campaign for State Senate District 15

Candidate would make history as youngest woman ever to serve in South Dakota legislature

SIOUX FALLS -- Today, Angie Buhl announced her candidacy for the State Senate in District 15, in what will be the district’s first Senate primary in recent years.

In a statement Tuesday, Buhl said, “I’m running for the Senate because I understand the basic needs and struggles families face in our district -- an understanding which has not been reflected in my opponent’s votes in Pierre.  I know these families are much more worried about basic things like jobs, affordable housing and our state’s economy than they are about a narrow ideology.”  Buhl continued, saying, “This is about people, not politics.  What District 15 needs is someone who understands and lives their experiences, not a politician. We also need elected officials who get something done during their tenure. I’ve worked on tough issues and know what progress looks like. I’m excited to take that experience and hard work to our state Capitol.”

Buhl said she looks forward to meeting more voters throughout the district as the June 8 primary draws near.  “This is one of the most diverse districts in South Dakota, and I am eager to have conversations with voters from all walks of life about their concerns and their vision for our state.”

Buhl is a non-profit advocacy professional and a 4th generation South Dakotan. She is originally from Yankton where her family still owns a small business. Buhl holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Dakota and is a member of the Compass Center’s Volunteer ER Rape Crisis Advocacy Team.
