A new recommendation to ban cell phone use while driving nationwide has many people talking. The National Transportation Safety Board is urging people to give up texting and even hands-free calling with the exception of an emergency. As distracted driving continues to become life-threatening, technology is growing faster than we can keep up with.

South Dakota Democrats say a law passed by the legislature pits economic development against education funding.
House Bill 1230 would set up a large project development fund to bring more business to the state. Democrats say an effort to refer the law to the 2012 ballot is a fight over funding priorities, while supporters of the measure say party leaders are misguided.
But, more than 300 people are circulating the petitions to let voters decide if a large project development fund passed this past legislative session is the right way to spend taxpayer money.

SIOUX FALLS, SD - Several districts across South Dakota are asking voters to increase their taxes through opt-outs to make up for a 6.6 percent cut in state education funding.
One of the biggest battles is in Yankton where voters are being asked to approve an opt-out that would increase taxes and raise an extra $4.2 million for the district every year for the next ten years.

Senator Angie Buhl, a Democrat from Sioux Falls' District 15, joined Nancy Wednesday morning to discuss her experiences as a freshman legislator.
Buhl talked about how exciting and overwhelming it can be for lawmakers when hot-button issues like Governor Daugaard's budget are on the table.
She also mentioned how important she feels it is to encourage diversity in the state legislature. Buhl is the youngest female senator in South Dakota history.
